Beauty and the Insect

I popped over to the post office on my lunch today and saw a pretty red flower that I wanted to photograph on my way back into the building. After I did that, I saw some pink flowers and decided to capture them too. It wasn't until I had turned on my macro and taken the first picture that I noticed the fly on the flower. (I'm assuming it's a fly, but am not positive. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

I got another five shots in before it flew away. It kept moving around the center of the flower to get away from the camera, or perhaps that was its feeding pattern, so I have some some shots with lovely composition but not a great angle on the fly and I have some close-ups like the one I've posted today. It was a little hard to choose, because I got a couple of good ones. Hopefully I chose one you all find interesting too.

Re: linked photo - I really love the cup shape and composition of this shot, but the fly had yet to learn its good side. ;)

My 200th will be on Sunday and I have a really gorgeous flower to share. (The picture is decent too, but the flower itself is stunning, so I'm not sure how I could screw it up. Although I did have to delete some photos that were blurry. Stupid auto focus.) Sunday's flower picture is from this afternoon, a little mini-photo session between work and soccer practice.
