The Wide World of Macro

Posted by liaso (Bay Area, United States) on 26 January 2008 in Plants & Nature.

What I love most about working with macros (and why I yearn for a macro lens for my SLR) is what they reveal to me. What looks like something plain and scrubby to the eye can reveal intricacies and beauty with a little help from a macro lens. It can transform the mundane into something beautiful, delicate, alien, adult...pretty much all the adjectives out there with just a little imagination and composition.

Therefore I present the regular and macro views of the same plant. It was a little hard to get the macro photo as the plant was a) in a stranger's yard and b) it was a bit breezy. While I wish I could have more contrasting color behind the gold of the plant, I'm satisfied. I love the little delicate details that the macro reveals.
