Best of the Zoo X: Down and Up

Posted by liaso (Bay Area, United States) on 17 December 2007 in Animal & Insect.

Welcome back to Best of the Zoo, which will be finishing its run on Wed. I'm afraid I was drawing a blank for a title for this photo so I just stated what direction I was looking to take the photos. I do not know what type of lizard or what type of monkey these two critters are. If you know, please fill me in.

Since the Edinburgh Zoo was not a huge zoo, I had time to see all the animals they had. Although I'm not huge on reptiles, I like lizards. I thought this guy was really cute, peeking over the edge at the outside world.

There was a good variety of monkeys, chimpanzees, and apes at this zoo. The cage for this little guy didn't seem super big. Some of the cages had openings at the top that connected to larger, outside enclosed areas, if I'm remembering correctly. I just can't recall if this guy had more play room or not. I felt sad for a lot of the primates, because it really seemed like they, for the most part, needed more space. Of course, I think that's a common thought when visiting almost any animal at any zoo.
